The organ was first built in 1866 by J W Walker and Sons and enlarged by them in 1905. In 1938 the organ was given a major rebuild by Compton for £1,315 which saw the addition of new pipework and the present detached stopkey 'horseshoe' style console. In 1964 the organ was overhauled by George Osmond and further work done in 1990 by Lance Foy. The organ is another example of the work Compton did at rebuilding other instruments.
