The organ was built in early 1939 by Compton where it replaced an instrument of 1888 by Alfred Monk. In true Compton practice, the organ is built on the extension principal and consists of 11 ranks of pipes all fully enclosed.

The original console was replaced in 2001 with the present one by Pels D' Hondt of Herselt, Belgium and works by illuminated stops laid out in terraces as found in instruments by Cavaillé-Coll. Also included is a midi interface and a floppy disc playback facility.
